Ghazal 210: Last night in our circle the tale was of your tresses
Last night in our circle the tale was of your tresses;
until the heart of the night the talk was of the chain of your hair.
The heart, which was rolling in blood from the arrow of your lashes,
was longing once again for the bow-house of your eyebrow.
God pardon the east wind as well, for it brought a message from you;
otherwise we met no one who came from your street.
The world knew nothing of the tumult and turmoil of love;
the stirrer of mischief in the world was your sorcerer's glance.
I, the bewildered one, was also among the people of safety;
the snare on my road was the curl of your dark tress.
Loosen the tie of your robe, so that my heart may open,
for whatever ease I had came from being at your side.
By your faithfulness, pass by the grave of Hafez,
who was leaving the world still longing for your face.
Interpretation of the fal
Your thoughts and your talk keep circling around one person, and in spite of all you have suffered you still long for them. You have little news of them and take comfort from one small sign. Your heart will open through closeness and meeting; if you can, ask for it. Value each other while there is still time.
