Ghazal 316: Do not give your tress to the wind, or you will give me to the wind

Do not give your tress to the wind, or you will give me to the wind;
do not lay a foundation of disdain, or you will tear up my foundation.

Do not drink wine with everyone, or I shall drink the blood of my liver;
do not turn your head away, or my cry will raise its head to the sky.

Do not twist your tress into rings, or you will put me in chains;
do not curl your lock, or you will give me to the wind.

Do not be a friend to strangers, or you will take me from myself;
do not grieve for others, or you will leave me without joy.

Let your face glow, and you will free me from the petal of the rose;
raise your stature, and you will set me free from the cypress.

Do not be the candle of every company, or else you will burn us;
do not remember every people, or you will go from my memory.

Do not be the talk of the city, or I shall take to the mountains;
do not show the passion of Shirin, or you will make me a Farhad.

Have mercy on me, the wretched one, and come to my cry,
so that my cry does not reach the dust of the vizier's door.

God forbid that Hafez should turn his face away from your tyranny;
from the day I was put in your bonds I have been free.

Interpretation of the fal

You are deeply attached, and every attention that person pays to others hurts you. Tell them what you want: that they keep their affection for you and not break your heart with indifference. But know that, for all this pain, this bond is your freedom and you will not turn away from it. If you are wronged, the way to seek redress is also open.
