Ghazal 318: You see me, and every moment you increase my pain

مرا می‌بینی و هر دم زیادت می‌کنی دردم
تو را می‌بینم و میلم زیادت می‌شود هر دم

به سامانم نمی‌پرسی، نمی‌دانم چه سر داری
به درمانم نمی‌کوشی، نمی‌دانی مگر دردم؟

نه راه است این که بگذاری مرا بر خاک و بگریزی
گذاری آر و بازم پرس تا خاک رهت گردم

ندارم دستت از دامن، به جز در خاک و آن دم هم
که بر خاکم روان گردی بگیرد دامنت گردم

فرو رفت از غم عشقت دمم دم می‌دهی تا کی؟
دمار از من برآوردی نمی‌گویی برآوردم

شبی دل را به تاریکی ز زلفت باز می‌جستم
رخت می‌دیدم و جامی هلالی باز می‌خوردم

کشیدم در برت ناگاه و شد در تاب گیسویت
نهادم بر لبت لب را و جان و دل فدا کردم

تو خوش می‌باش با حافظ، برو گو خصم جان می‌ده
چو گرمی از تو می‌بینم، چه باک از خصم دم سردم

You see me, and every moment you increase my pain;
I see you, and every moment my longing grows.

You do not ask how I am; I do not know what you have in mind.
You make no effort to cure me; do you perhaps not know my pain?

This is no way: to leave me in the dust and run away;
pass by and ask after me again, so that I may become the dust of your road.

I will not take my hand from your skirt except in the grave, and even then,
when you pass over my grave, my dust will catch at your skirt.

My breath has sunk away from grief at loving you; how long will you beguile me?
You have brought ruin upon me, and you do not say: "I did it."

One night in the darkness I was looking to win my heart back from your tress;
I was gazing at your face and drinking again from a crescent cup.

Suddenly I drew you to my breast and your tresses fell into a tangle;
I laid my lip upon your lip and gave up soul and heart as an offering.

Be kind to Hafez, and tell the enemy to go and give up the ghost;
when I see warmth from you, what do I care for the enemy's cold breath?
