Ghazal 374: Come, let us scatter roses and pour wine into the cup

بیا تا گل برافشانیم و می در ساغر اندازیم
فلک را سقف بشکافیم و طرحی نو دراندازیم

اگر غم لشکر انگیزد که خون عاشقان ریزد
من و ساقی به هم تازیم و بنیادش براندازیم

شراب ارغوانی را گلاب اندر قدح ریزیم
نسیم عطرگردان را، شکر در مجمر اندازیم

چو در دست است رودی خوش، بزن مطرب سرودی خوش
که دست‌افشان غزل خوانیم و پاکوبان سر اندازیم

صبا! خاک وجود ما، بدان عالی‌جناب انداز
بود کآن شاه خوبان را نظر بر منظر اندازیم

یکی از عقل می‌لافد، یکی طامات می‌بافد
بیا کاین داوری‌ها را به پیش داور اندازیم

بهشت عدن اگر خواهی، بیا با ما به میخانه
که از پای خمت روزی، به حوض کوثر اندازیم

سخن‌دانی و خوش‌خوانی نمی‌ورزند در شیراز
بیا حافظ که تا خود را، به ملکی دیگر اندازیم

Come, let us scatter roses and pour wine into the cup;
let us split open the roof of the sky and lay down a new design.

If grief raises an army to shed the blood of lovers,
the cupbearer and I will charge together and tear up its foundations.

Into the cup of crimson wine let us pour rose-water;
into the censer of the breeze that spreads perfume let us cast sugar.

Since a fine lute is in your hand, minstrel, play a fine tune,
so that we may sing ghazals clapping our hands, and stamping our feet give up our heads.

East wind, carry the dust of our being to that lofty court;
it may be that we shall cast one glance on the sight of that king of the beautiful.

One boasts of his reason, another weaves his idle talk;
come, let us bring all these disputes before the Judge.

If you want the garden of Eden, come with us to the tavern,
so that from the foot of the wine jar we may one day cast you into the pool of paradise.

Fine speech and sweet singing are not prized in Shiraz;
come, Hafez, so that we may take ourselves off to another kingdom.
