Ghazal 406: He said: you went out to watch the new moon

He said: you went out to watch the new moon;
be ashamed before the moon of my eyebrows, and go.
For a lifetime your heart has been among the captives of our tress;
do not neglect to keep faith with your own friends.
Do not sell the perfume of reason to the Hindu of our tress,
for there a thousand pods of musk go for half a barleycorn.
The seed of faithfulness and love in this old sown field
will show itself when the season of harvest comes.
Cupbearer, bring wine, that I may tell you a hint
of the secret of the old-wandering stars and the new moon.
The shape of the crescent at the head of each month gives a sign
of the diadem of Siyamak and the crown of the cap of Zav.
Hafez, the court of the Magian elder is the refuge of faithfulness;
read him the lesson of the tale of love, and hear it from him.
Interpretation of the fal
Your eye has gone to something new, and someone you have been with for years is hurt: keep faith with old friends. In matters of the heart, cleverness and calculation have no value. The result of faithfulness and love does not show quickly: it will appear at harvest time. The splendours of the world pass. Go to someone known for loyalty and learn from them.
