Ghazal 57: That dark-skinned one who has all the sweetness of the world

That dark-skinned one who has all the sweetness of the world
has the wine-coloured eye, the laughing lip and the glad heart.

Though the sweet-mouthed are kings, yet
he is the Solomon of the age, for he has the seal ring.

He has a fair face, perfect skill and a clean skirt;
so the good will of the pure of both worlds is with him.

The musky mole that lies on that wheat-coloured cheek
holds the secret of the grain that waylaid Adam.

My heart-stealer has resolved to travel; for God's sake, friends,
what shall I do with my wounded heart? For he has the salve.

To whom can one tell this: that stony-hearted one
killed us, and he has the breath of Jesus son of Mary?

Hafez is one of the believers; hold him dear,
for the forgiveness of many a noble soul is with him.

Interpretation of the fal

The person on your mind is not only attractive but honest and accomplished, and many people wish them well. A separation or a journey lies ahead that pains you. The same person who has hurt you also holds the cure for your heart. Be patient and do not withdraw your affection; kindness and reconciliation are on the way.
