Ghazal 274: In the season of the tulip take the cup, and be free of hypocrisy

به دور لاله، قدح گیر و بی‌ریا می‌باش
به بوی گل، نفسی همدم صبا می‌باش

نگویمت که همه ساله می پرستی کن
سه ماه می خور و نه ماه پارسا می‌باش

چو پیر سالک عشقت به می حواله کند
بنوش و منتظر رحمت خدا می‌باش

گرت هواست که چون جم به سر غیب رسی
بیا و همدم جام جهان‌نما می‌باش

چو غنچه گر چه فروبستگی‌ست کار جهان
تو همچو باد بهاری گره‌گشا می‌باش

وفا مجوی ز کس ور سخن نمی‌شنوی
به هرزه طالب سیمرغ و کیمیا می‌باش

مرید طاعت بیگانگان مشو حافظ
ولی معاشر رندان پارسا می‌باش

In the season of the tulip take the cup, and be free of hypocrisy;
in the scent of the rose be for a moment the companion of the east wind.

I do not tell you to worship wine all the year round;
drink for three months, and for nine be devout.

When the elder who travels the road of love directs you to wine,
drink, and wait for the mercy of God.

If you wish, like Jamshid, to reach the secret of the unseen,
come, and be the companion of the cup that shows the world.

Though the affairs of the world are closed up like the bud,
be, like the wind of spring, one who unties knots.

Do not look for faithfulness from anyone; and if you will not listen,
then go on seeking in vain the Simorgh and the elixir.

Do not become a follower of the devotions of strangers, Hafez,
but be the companion of the rends who are truly devout.
