Ghazal 113: Last night the violet spoke to the rose and gave a fair sign
Last night the violet spoke to the rose and gave a fair sign:
my curl in the world was given me by so-and-so's tress.
My heart was a treasury of secrets, and the hand of fate
shut its door and gave the key to a stealer of hearts.
I came to your court like one broken, for the physician
pointed me to the healing balm of your kindness.
May his body be sound, his heart glad and his mind at ease,
the one who lent a hand and gave help to a weak man.
Go and treat yourself, O giver of advice;
to whom did wine and a sweet beauty ever do harm?
She passed by me, poor wretch, and said to the watchers:
a pity; my poor Hafez, what a life he has given.
Interpretation of the fal
The secret of your heart is in the hands of the one you love, and the solution to your problem also depends on their kindness. Go to them humbly, with your heart as it is. Someone has come, or will come, to your aid; value them. Do not listen to dry advice. The one you love knows how you are and feels for you.
