Ghazal 304: Possessor of the world, Helper of the Faith, the perfect sovereign

دارای جهان نصرت دین خسرو کامل
یحیی بن مظفر ملک عالم عادل

ای درگه اسلام پناه تو گشاده
بر روی زمین روزنهٔ جان و در دل

تعظیم تو بر جان و خرد واجب و لازم
انعام تو بر کون و مکان فایض و شامل

روز ازل از کلک تو یک قطره سیاهی
بر روی مه افتاد که شد حل مسائل

خورشید چو آن خال سیه دید، به دل گفت
ای کاج که من بودمی آن هندوی مقبل

شاها فلک از بزم تو در رقص و سماع است
دست طرب از دامن این زمزمه مگسل

می نوش و جهان بخش که از زلف کمندت
شد گردن بدخواه گرفتار سلاسل

دور فلکی یکسره بر منهج عدل است
خوش باش که ظالم نبرد راه به منزل

حافظ قلم شاه جهان مقسم رزق است
از بهر معیشت مکن اندیشهٔ باطل

Possessor of the world, Helper of the Faith, the perfect sovereign,
Yahya son of Muzaffar, the learned and just king:

O you whose court, the refuge of Islam, has opened
upon the face of the earth a window for the soul and a door for the heart,

To honour you is a duty and an obligation upon soul and reason;
your bounty flows over and embraces all that exists.

On the day of pre-eternity a single drop of ink from your pen
fell upon the face of the moon, and became the solving of problems.

When the sun saw that black mole, it said in its heart:
"Would that I had been that fortunate dark one!"

O king, the sky is dancing and whirling at your banquet;
do not let the hand of joy let go the skirt of this melody.

Drink wine and give the world away, for by the lasso of your tress
the neck of the ill-wisher has been caught in chains.

The turning of the heavens is wholly on the path of justice;
be glad, for the oppressor will not find his way to the journey's end.

Hafez, the pen of the king of the world is the distributor of daily bread;
do not trouble yourself with vain thoughts about your livelihood.
